    square coons

Does anyone here remember when coon hides were dried square? I have seen pictures of them but am not old enough to have ever done it for market. My grandfather had told me stories of their hired men doing it for extra Christmas money and such. Mind you we are talking back in the 20's, 30's,& 40's here.
