I have a very old can of Allan-7. I have tried in 45 Colt loads. I used some data specifically for that cartridge. Not sure if it was just old or just not a good powder for 45 Colt, but was very dirty and left unturned powder everywhere.

Many years ago my job required travel: so, naturally I'd stop @ any gun shop/pawn shop along the way. One stop was very fruitful: several pound of AL5 @ $2.50/container (if my memory is correct the containers were less that a pound).
I loaded many .38 spec. midrange loads with AL5 & was sad when the supply was exhausted.
My old Lyman Pistol & Revolver Handbook lists the following:
9mm: 115 gr. cast (358345) start load=5.0, Max=6.9
121 gr. cast (356402) start load=5.3, Max=6.4
92 gr. cast (358242) start load=5.9, Max=9.0
.38 Spec.: 92 gr. cast (358242) start=6.0 Max=7.9
121 gr. cast (356402) start=4.8 Max=7.0
141 gr. cast (358495) start=4.0 Max=6.3
148 gr cast (35863)(wc) start=3.3 Max=5.4
148 gr. cast (35891) start=4.3 Max=6.7
no recommended loads for heavier boolits in .38 spec.
No recommended .357 loads
.45 ACP
185 gr. (#452389) cast start=5.1 Max=8.3
195 gr. (#452488) cast start=5.8 Max=8.5
200 gr. (#452460) cast start=5.8 Max=8.4
225 gr. (#452374) cast start=5.5 Max=8.7
No listing for .45 Colt or .44 spec.
I hope this helps.

Well, THANKS! Henry! You just presented me with a nice printable table to hide away! No more digging thru my ancient manuals, hunting data!
Rights, and Privileges, are not synonymous. We have the Right to Bear Arms. As soon as the Government mandates firearm registration, and permiting, then that Right becomes a Privilege, and may be taken away at our Master's discretion.
