    Cool REAL bullet for Elk?

Anybody cast a r.e.a.l. bullet for Elk. I need one for a CVA .50 cal for Colorado this fall. Might see if you would send me some, or we could make a trade?

When Savage introduced their SMOKELESS POWDER M L I picked one up.

Having to pay about $25.00 for 25 J word 45 cal and sabots was not enjoyable for this OLD man. A little searching and I had my own sabots AND a Lyman 45 H P mould. Took her to the range and that Savage lived up to the Savage reputation.

5 shots under 2" at 100 yards is good enough any day.

No it is not a C V A but with a little luck you might already have the mould in your collection and if that 45 will not do it would a 50?

Yes you can use sabots in a B P gun and no do not ask.

The 320 gr REAL w/Pyrodex RS and a felt wad works well in my 1 - 32 twist GPH.

I figure if he hangs around he'll figure it out. If he don't, he won't.
Be nice, Grendel, I'm kinda new around here too.

Isn't the REAl for .50 only like 250 grains? They load and shoot well, but that isn't very heavy for a .50.

I've had real good luck on deer using the Lyman plains bullet in my Hawken. It's a real hammer. Weighs nominally 410 grains and has a big meplat. You may want to think more along those lines for elk.

http://leeprecision.com/bullet-casti...-powder-molds/ A cast boolit for Black Powder. Click on the link and read all about it. I like the 320 grain 50 cal. . Works well in my Knight. http://leeprecision.com/bullet-casti...et-combo-molds

    Rifling Engraved At Loading

I shoot 50 and 54 REAL's and they shoot great! Super acurate and very easy to load. Let me know how many you want. I think I have several hundred of each size already cast out in the garage. Those 54's on the counter are HP REAL's I made after I punched a half inch cookie cutter hole clean through a deer, quartering from liver to off chest. He went down in 20 yds and you could have put a 1/2" wood dowel rod clear through the hole. The 50's in the hat run 304-305 grs.
