I've got two of them too. One stays ready for .45 and the other gets changed out for .357 and .431.
Are you using Lars Carnuba Red?
i can't wait untill doug sees this.
i have been talking him into one for a while now.
you get a feeder, shovel handle, and air hooked up and you have to stand up to push them through, because it will go as fast as you care to/can operate it.
Pretty sweet. Wish I could justify the cost. Guess I need to shoot more, so its a lower cost per shot!
ya need the feeder tube on it, then you can go even faster.
Don't forget to include the time it takes to load the feeder tube! Instead of grabbing one bullet at a time I have a handful and as the handle is being pulled I manipulate the next bullet in my left hand to place in the die. You DO need to watch your fingers!ya need the feeder tube on it, then you can go even faster.

load 40 tubes while watching the tv.
you can size them in an hour or so and not have to do any for a while.
I don't have a feeder but with a handful of bullets it goes pretty dang fast. The air feed makes a huge difference.
I agree with you that the Star is quicker and a lot more versatile than other sizers. I have two Stars but I do not have sizing dies for everything I shoot. The odd sizes are sized in my RCBS. I hate to use the RCBS.
I agree with you that you don't need any air assist or bullet feed if you are sizing for personal use.
I am more interested in the Hornady Press. What is your opinion ? I think it is a step ahead of the Dillon 550B. It compares more like a 650. It also has a better way to change out dies and has less priority parts than the Dillons. You can buy the Dillon press but you have to refinance the house to buy all the needed parts.
WV109323, I'm pretty new to progressive press's and have never tried Dillon. I bought the Hornady mostly on price alone. That being said I'm extreamly happy with it, it gave me a few problems but with the help of CS and a new part (sub plate late shell plate rides on) ithas been trouble free. It works as well as I had hoped and I'm keeping it. Dennis

the 550 isn't a progressive you turn it by hand.
as such you can make it go in the dark.
