Can't wait to start making 500 magnum bullets... THAT will require RockChucker frame strength!
Or, just brake down and get a REAL swage press😎. You won't even have to modify it!!

    True that.
However, budget limitations for some of us are real enough to preclude us from spending $$$ on real swaging presses. Especially when we had an extra RockChucker sitting on a shelf.

Very nice, thank you Duke for going to the trouble of sharing that Video!

For my purposes, I like Smokey Wolf's idea about the switch being run with the hand "in harms way" however. I don't want to stir anything up and I am not saying anyone else needs it ... but I know I would ......

Thanks, Micheal. The issue is that the THIN brass is very temperature sensitive. Anything too hot causes the brass to sag terribly. So, keeping the batch size small is the key to success. With my Lee 20 pound dip pot, I can easily get three handfuls in, stir 1/2 way through a 12 minute soak, and be done before I know it.

Did you get a chance to get para cord this week?

Ok. I can hold within about 5 degrees plus or minus if you ever want to have me run a giant batch.

Not this week. Work has been nutty. I'm hoping to get there this week after I drop my daughter off at school. He wanted one bag right?

$15 worth, to start with. He'll probably want to do bigger orders when he's OK with the product.
    Thank you again.

Duke (and Brian) - I finally got around to using my derim dies on a RCBS press. Now I really understand the rational for the derim machine, or the RCE press. Due to prices, I think I'll look at the air cylinder option that Duke talked about. You guys are a real inspiration.

Not quite a flat rate box, but about a 1lbs coffee can full, and the hand hurts ans is red, but no blisters. Maybe a roller handle. I know, my son is supposed to be down this coming weekend......

Hey Duke, WHat size cylinder did you use and how much air pressure does your compressor put out?

That's answered in the video itself. it's a 3.5 inch cylinder at 65 psi.

I watched the video and thought about how many times I have cranked the handle on the old CSP over the last 30 years. Nice job.

Hey Duke, Just finished building my pneumatic press. Used a 4" cylinder with 2" throw. It feeds em through. Does your press make a scrubbing sound as the casing starts its way through the derim die? I'll get a video up to show you what I;m talking about.

Alignment, as near perfect as you can get, is the real key to success. If you're well aligned, you should have minimal press/ram noises.
    Also, lubrication.

We have bare metal parts sliding past bare metal parts.... I am using SuperLube grease on my ram for the press, and have even lubed the cylinder ram with it.
It's synthetic, and the best lube for bare metal moving parts, in my book.

Maybe we can get an opinion from BTSniper. I noticed on my classic press derimming by hand, that the initial push of the rim into the die was met with significant resistance. After which the case passes through with lesser effort. The same thing applies to the pneumatic press. Some brass derims easily and quitely while the majority makes the scrubbing sound. Few if any cases rupture and accordian down onto the ram. My alignment looks very right on. I found a $50 cylinder on EBay with a 4" bore and a 2" stroke. It fitted up very well to the mounting bracket I fabricated and stands about 14" high not including the press. It weighs about 50 lbs, sits upright on the four cylinder nuts just like the press as if it were mounted to a bench and can be put away for storage. Oh I'm happily power derimming !!!!!!

Well, I'm almost done with my air assisted machine. Worked on it thursday night using the angle grinder on some metal I wielded up for the frame, until the misquotes chased me in. Went out Friday to finish, some one got in and stole my angle grinder, a tool box of tools from Brownells (ouch), my hand drill, and tap & die set. Now I have to replace the tools before I can proceed!

Look at you guys go! Nice work! Be sure to always use eye protection.

I derimed a gallon worth last night, had 5 blanks work their way into my batch of brass. I caught the last three before I derimed it but the first two poped and startled me a bit.

Scarny, That sucks some one broke in. glad they didn't take an swage dies! And misquotes! Still too cold in most of the nation to worry about those little buggers.

Don't know what to say about "scrubing" sound????? Federial brass requires more effort since it is a little thicker in the base.
