Anyone enlarge the spent primer reservoir on a Lee Hand Press?

Mine comes up a little shy of holding 50 small primers. Looks to me like there is some room to make the hole deeper and pick up a little extra capacity. Kinda worried I will mess something up if I just take the power drill to it though...

    I don't believe I'd try that.

Just empty it a bit more often.

Yes, it holds about 44 to 46 small and 32 to 34 large primers. I agree with Ben. I would not touch it.

When I use my LEE Hand Press, I always pause at 25 LP cases and 40 SP cases to empty the reservoir. It is just part of the routine when using the Hand Press.

Try it. If you go thru, you could just tap the bottom of the hole and put a set screw in to use as a plug.

That's the spirit! Looks to me like there is plenty of depth to pick up an extra inch or so with no worries about punching through. I might give it a go...

Its not hardened steel so should be easy to work. A plug in the bottom might make it easier to empty than popping out the shell holder and doing the maraca shake while singng Lacucaracha tho that is fun.

Might have to try this on mine.

Drilled out enough room for about 55 SP primers in a few minutes. Now I can get through a box of 38s without having to empty! There is still plenty of room for more drilling, I might have to make it deep enough to hold 50 LPPs...
