Old Ideal 323378 and the Gew88 "commision"

Anyone tried this combination? I just picked up a Gew88 with a perfect bore and had a few of these around from an old mold I picked up years ago. Loading up a few dummies and crimping them into the designated crimp groove produces a cartridge that is identical to the original m/88 8x57 round. And I mean indentical. My bore comes in around .319-20 and the lands around .311. Bullet drops at .322-3 on the bands and tapers down, doesn't drop below .311 untill 3/4 or so down the ogive. Anyone tried this? Any opinions? Thanks, Dan

I think it would work very well. Shoot it GCed and sized at .323/.322 with about 18 - 20 gr 4759, pistol primers work best with this powder. I don't have that bullet but, I have 4 of the rifles. They all shoot high by about 12" @ 100. Either start close or make sure you have plenty of paper above your POA.

I figured it would. I originally got it for the normal 8mm's, but it cast somewhat undersize for those, so I'm hoping it fits this rifle well.
