760 Remington Question

I guy recently told me his Reminton 760 Gamemaster was not drilled and tapped at the factory for scope mounts.
I told him I thought they were. Remington schematics show filler screws for the holes. Were some of the older ones NOT factory drilled and tapped? If so, when did the factory start drilling and tapping them?.....dale

I know of at least one older 760 that was mistakenly drilled and tapped for a second set of screws when the original ones had been obscured with some amateur refinishing product. That may be the case here. I wouldn't be surprised if the earliest weren't D&T at the factory though.

I've got one made in 1955 and it's not drilled and tapped. Can't remember the month without looking at it,.

My gamemaster, 760- 35 Rem. isnt drilled either.
