Is it an 1893, or an 1898 Mauser? (I seem to think a 1893-96, but am not sure) An 1893 (small ring can be fitted with a Remington take off barrel of the caliber desired by turning down the threads as threads on a small ring Mauser are smaller than the minor diameter of a 700 Rem thread. If different cartridges (chambering) is desired, usually the barrel will be necessary to cut off to one degree or another, re shouldered, rethreaded, and rechambered. This sometimes results in too small of a barrel diameter in front of the receiver. Something to watch out for.

!898 Mausers (large ring) have threads of approx the same diameter as Rem 700 threads. This can be made to work by the same approach. Cut off the threads and re shoulder and re thread, and rechamber. Again, consideration needs to be given to cutting enough barrel off to rechamber to desired caliber (cartridge), and to how much barrel diameter results after this is done.
We need somebody/something to keep the government (cops and bureaucrats too) HONEST (by non government oversight).

Every "freedom" (latitude) given to government is a loophole in the rule of law. Every loophole in the rule of law is another hole in our freedom. When they even obey the law that is. Too often government seems to feel itself above the law.

We forgot to take out the trash in 2012, but 2016 was a charm! YESSS!
