    Summer Hiking photos

Took a couple of nice hikes this summer...one was a 9 mile up to Loowit Falls in the Mt. St. Helens blast zone #1,,,,the other was to the Lower Falls at Lewis river.
Hiking in the #1 blast zone is like hiking in a moonscape....rock and more rock, pumice and huge bolders of lava, truly a sight
Geographically the distance between the two waterfalls is only about 50 miles as the crow flies, but what a difference in topography and vegetation etc.

The Loowit Fall at Mt. St. Helen is 200 ft high...

Lower Lewis River Fall is 75ft. at the base of these falls is where the salmon used to accumulate, unable to get over the falls. Native Americans would spear fish these Salmon.....this river if fed by Mt. Adams, another volcano

    Very nice!
The solid soft lead bullet is undoubtably the best and most satisfactory expanding bullet that has ever been designed. It invariably mushrooms perfectly, and never breaks up. With the metal base that is essential for velocities of 2000 f.s. and upwards to protect the naked base, these metal-based soft lead bullets are splendid.

Forget everything you know about loading jacketed bullets. This is a whole new ball game!

wOw! Thanks for the memory jar. I'd forgotten about Mt. St. Helens.
