Anyone shot any game with the blackout and cast?

I am selling some stuff and am going to build a Blackout. Any real time experiences on game, particularly with cast?

Please don't make this into a theoretical discussion.

Do not argue with idiots. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

The guys on my local forum have been crazy about the blackout. One of the first guys to get one crony'd some loads, and I thought his numbers looked a bit disappointing compared to the stock numbers of 7.62x39.

These guys have done a fair bit of hog hunting, so far I think most are using factory ammo there. The hogs must not have seen that first set of chrony numbers, because he's been knocking them dead just fine.

It is not a long range cartridge but I'd be confident to shoot within 100yards with a cast 245/247, sub or supersonic.

A nice 150-170 gr flat nose at 1800-2000 fps should work rather well also.
If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck!

    Works great on woodchucks.

Sorry, closest thing to game that I've killed with mine.

I shot a couple coyotes with mine, but all under a hundred yards. The range maggot* ranchers around here love me. Nice caliber holes in and out, never recovered a boolit.

    Hmmm.........

Being from Illinois, I never really considered it before: .......But from a considerable distance, sheep DO look like maggots, .....don't they?

So far, I've only popped a couple of old, fat, nasty Illinois woodchucks with mine.

At 50 yards, that Lee 230 boolit at subsonic speed went "in-and-out" without even slowing down! ….One of the shots featured a little bit of brush in the way; which didn't seem to bother it a bit.

……And I really like the very moderate report produced by the subsonic loads!! (…..The whole county doesn’t show up to comment on your activities!)

I wouldn't hesitate to use the same load on Whitetail out to 100 yards: ......With careful shot placement, of course!

Knocked a 30lb+ NY porcupine out of a tree he was gnawing on last fall with a 155gr LEE TL .310 Spirepoint (the C.E. Harris/LEE design).

One shot up through the lungs and shattered its spine. It was dead by the time I walked the 50 yards through the scrub to the base of the tree where it fell.
