I haven't shot it in a 30-30, but I can tell you they shoot very good in my 30-06 1:10 twist going 1070fps. Hopefully they are stable for you in your 30-30. 1903 Springfield likes to make them tumble, but my Remington 700 can't get enough of these heavies.

By my math, a 247 gr .308" bullet has a .372 Sectional Density, which is huge. IOW, a .372 SD = end to end penetration.

I know a jackrabbit doesnt stop that bullet moving 1070fps

Its such a great design I really want to use it for hunting big game.

Trailboss should be a good fit. If you tell me what your COAL is I'll run it through Quickload for you.

I haven't used the mould yet, so I don't know the COAL.

Based on the dimension of a very similar boolit from Accurate Molds, this boolit is 0.895" beyond the crimp groove... add the chosen case dimension, and there ya go...

COAL will be approx 2.91" seated in the crimping groove. I used the dimensions from the drawing in the sign up thread. Trailboss will be quite a good powder for subsonic loads with this bullet, and case fill is good with no need for fillers.

    Quickload estimates:
11 gr Trailboss=100% case fill, 992 fps, 33,800 psi, 100% powder burn before bullet exits bbl
10 gr Trailboss=91% case fill. 932 fps, 29,400 psi, 100% powder burn before bullet exits bbl

Pressure starts to increase more rapidly when Trailboss is compressed, similar to many of the pistol powders such as Unique, blue dot, bullseye. Avoid compressing it. Charge your case and physically measure the space remaining for the bullet. Case brand could make quite a difference in powder capacity.

Quickload suggests starting 15% low and working up - the numbers given are estimates and there are many variables in play. I would start at 9.5 gr and work up from there.

All the powder will burn in a 10" barrel before the bullet exits and that should make it quieter.
SAAMI max for the 30-30 is 42K psi

Thankyou for the offer but I really hope I won't be having a next wedding.

I have a small .308Winny in a single shot that I want to be my CarryAll truck gun.

I'd be very happy with 2" at 100m. 250gr at 1900fps is very deadly moose gun medicine.

I'm interested in 308 loads too, both subsonic and supersonic. Thinking trailboss will be the way to go for the subs.
