Here is my .40cal 'Minie'. Glen gave me the mould some years back and in 40-1 is casts at .396 so too small for my Colerain barrel. Two wraps of 9lb onion skin paper brings it up to .402-.403 and it SHOOTS.

All right! I can get in on it this month!!

A Lyman 319247 squeezed down to .311 and then brought up to .323 with two wraps of college ruled notebook paper makes this bugger run in the .32 Winchester like the thing was never meant for anything else.

Finally! Something I get to post in! I've been watching this forum for a while now.

This is a NEI 290gr RN. Sized to .369, then wrapped with 3 layers of wet velum and JPW waxed. Seated over 25.0gr of Blue Dot for about 1500fps. Shot out of a CZ 550 at 100yds off bags with a leupold 1.5-5x

The photo on the left shows the same bullet with different patch and seating lengths. Darned if I can remember what worked best but the results are on the right.

Some where between here and there.....

Just experimenting at this point. Here's a 540 grain Creedmoor cast pure lead in my 45 2.4. Case will hold 98 grains of Swiss 3F and a .060 poly wad with 1/8 of the bullet in the case. It comes back on you a bit

And here's the mold, a naked bullet and couple of patched bullets.
I wonder how 9# onion paper would hold up to a 50 BMG ?

Somebody in "comments" asked about the 900grainer before shooting. The round is a .600Overkill - basically a high pressure, straight walled, belted .577NE. Crazy powerful. Like 2500fps easy with 750grain J-words and 2400fps with Woodleigh 900grainers from a 26" barrel.

Loaded round on right is a .458Lott for comparison...

358Malcolm. My own wildcat. Loaded on the bench a few minutes before this photo was taken with the Lee style loader that I made, and trimmed with my special patch trimming tool.
The boolit is the Lyman 358318 sized to .351, knurled with a rough file, wrapped with two layers of greenbar printer paper, and sized to .360
I'll never forget that day, the temperature was 106 degrees in the shade, I drank gator aid like it was going out of style and stayed at the bench for 6 hours, loading ten rounds and shooting them over and over, one change at a time.
You can see the rifle in the background, cooling in the rack patiently.
When I look at this picture, I can almost hear the locusts buzzing away in the background. It was one of the funnest days I ever had at the bench.
