    MJS,

    Have you done any further development in the last decade?

    Knowledge I take to my grave is wasted.

    I prefer to use cartridges born before I was.

    Success doesn't make me happy, being happy is what allows me to be successful.

    Brian Pierce of HANDLOADER magazine had a load of 6.5 grains of 231 under the RCBS 270 (280) grain bullet for 782 f/s and 14,000 psi No loads in the 20,000 psi range were posted using 231

    Since this subject has come back to life , I have Ken Waters "Pet Loads" and for the 45 Auto Rim - w/ 250 gr. cast lead SWC - sized .452"
    5.0 grs Unique - gave the best accuracy in a 1917 S&W revolver .

    Note : Starting Load - 5.0 grs Unique @ *750 fps

    Maximum Load - 6.2 grs. Unique @ *824 fps

    * - velocities tested in S&W model 1956 Target - 6 1/2" bbl. length .

    There was no data for 231 - Speer Reloading Manual #9

    Gary,

    Not at all. We come here to share what we know and learn what we don’t know. You have a lot to share!

    I load a 275 from hunter's supply with Bluedot in my 7" Longslide and get around 1000fps.
    I do have a heavier spring. The cases tumble out at my feet. I don't think I'm running it too hard. I'm not going to shoot them in my Star PD
