    MIHA 32 hbwc

    Greetings,

Finally got around to cast some bullets with this new mould. Alloy is 20-1 lubed with a Red Hard Lube (It was a gift and do not know precisely what brand).

The bullets dropped from the mould at 0.314".

The test target is at 50 yards.

I used the barrel from my Haemmerli SP-20 for the testing.

    32 S&W Long Wad Cutter.

    Cheers,

    Dave

Good shooting Dave considering it's 1x away from a possible. How do factory wadcutters shoot in relation to this group? I would also suggest you try a softer alloy like 25 or 30:1 to see if it does better at the low pressure levels your at.

    Greetings,

I will try the softer alloy when time allows. Thanks for the idea.

Here is the same bullet and load with one exception. I took ten rejects and swaged (bumped) them 0.314" to true up the hollow base and make it cylindrical. Again these are rejects. Results may improve by weighing the bullets prior to lubing and swaging.

Regarding Commercial ammo, at $47.00 per box of 50 Lapua 98 grain wadcutters it may be quite some time before testing any. $$$$$.

For the past twenty years I have been machining replacement barrels for high end 32 wadcutter pistols. During testing, I find commercial ammo is not always the most accurate. It varies lot to lot quite a bit. hand loading is the best route for accuracy.

    Cheers,

    Dave

Excellent group Dave... and its a possible. I thought, since you had the correct gun that you may have shot factory wadcutters in it. Its nice to know ones own reloads can do better than factory loads. When the HB GBs began I suggested the top punches be made to insert in the HB to size the boolit, but that didn't come about. That of course would have uniformed the skirt. If you are inclined, I could send you the dimensions of the drawings HB to make your own top punch for that.

    Greetings 45 2.1,

Thanks for the drawing offer. Send it to my personal email address.

I normally use a Star for bullet greasing. I do have a Saeco tool I can dust off.

    Cheers,

    Dave
