i use a Herters U-3 super , thing is a mighty beast , i love the feel of her cold cast iron frame under my calloused and burnt hands as i make hunks of the densest metal know to man bend to my will ,

add in an adapter to use standard shell holders in er , and it is a press i will never abandon.

Dave Corbin CSP1 and Richard Corbin Walnut Hill. In the early sixties I used a CH Swagomatic for 3/4 jacketed pistol bullets.

I just received the RCE Sea Girt press. Obviously great machining and quality press but my official opinion is still out as far as wether it is teh perfect swage press. I can still do an awefully lot with my Lee Classic Cast with beefed up lincages and more leverage for a lot less dough!

I'll post a new thread in future if I make any ground breaking discoveries.

    Good shooting.

    Yep I figured it out.

Need to play with it a bit more but a Lee CC with better linckages is still looking pretty good to me.

    More later

I'll be using my RCBS AmmoMaster. I figure if it will load 50BMG, it will swage 224!
This is what it looks like now. Box is for catching cores & finished bullets.

I got a question. For those 16 of you (I'm sure there is probably others) that are using the Lee Classic Cast, How many of you modified it by repositioning teh linkage bolt to increase leverage and decrease ram travel?

I tried that at first, it worked OK but then I had to tinker
with it & extended the lever arm. The LCC made plenty
of pressure but now it's easier on me. Also seems to give
    it a better feel.

I'd say so. He's been really busy lately.

I have the Lee Classic Cast, I haven't mounted it yet though, been involved with so many other projects, finally working on turning about 80 lbs of WW into ingots, I guess I'm somewhere between 1/2 and 2/3 done.

I've seen several people mention modifying it to increase the leverage, but I dont have a significant tool shoppe to tinker in, also I'd be leary of cutting into something without knowing what I'm doing and turning my otherwise functional press into something I need to replace parts for

Are the benefits that significant? What does it cost to have the work done by someone who actually knows what they're doing (compared to me!)

Classic cast with extra 8" handle, no need to re-position anything and still retain original ram throw.

My Lee cast after swaging 10 000+ .223s.
I can feel allowance in the ram.

The press was lubed before every session.
