    Bullet feeder without heated base?

Do you need the heated base in order to install the Magma bullet feeder?! I want the feeder I just have no reason to buy the heated base!

I want the feeder mainly because it get's my finger out of the way.

If you're using a soft lube that doesn't require heat to flow, I see no reason you couldn't. You'd have to make sure the surface you mount the bullet feeder spacer to is the same height as the base the sizer is on. You'd have to locate the hole for the base in the proper place on the mounting, too.

    Hope this helps.

You don't need the heated base but you do need a plate to mount the sizer and the feeder onto. This plate could be a simple 1/2' (12mm) thick aluminum plate. I have the Magma manufactured heater and my own manufactured ones. It is a very easy task to make you own plate and install a heater of some kind.

If the plate is large enough a clothing iron can be used as a heat source. Cartridge heater elements of 100W or more are less than $10USD and light dimmers are about $10USD as well.

I have made a number of these plates for myself and the cost and time has been minimal. No special tools are required other than an electric drill and a steady hand.

My fleet of Star's now number 7 and all have heated plates and are feeder ready.
