Slugging a barrel for a newbie?

Looking to slug my barrel in my 760 pump in 30-06. Could I use a pellet of OO buck to get down the barrel or should I use a longer piece of lead?

IIRR, 00 is about .320 in diameter, so should do just fine. Remember to squirt a shot of oil down the bore before pounding the slug through.

One of the most endearing sights in the world is the vision of a naked good-looking woman leaving the bedroom to make breakfast. Bolivar Shagnasty (I believe that Lazarus Long also said it, but I can't find any record of it.)

Just run an oil soaked patche thru the barrel first. If you have a slightly longer piece of lead you may want to use that. The 00 ball will be good enough to take an impression but the area that engages the rifling will be small.
Old enough to know better, young enough to do it anyway!
