    Shooting Apps

I have a couple apps for my Droid that really help me out when I am shooting long range.

The first is "Shooter", its a $10 app. This app gives you just about every bullet, weight and bc from every major bullet manufacturer.

The other I use alot is called "Range Card", this is a $5 app. It uses google earth and allows you to set points that will give you a straight line distance from point A to B.

Let hear what everyone else has downloaded on there cell phones for shooting.

Search "Surefire" for a free shot timer.

    Taurus has one as well.

    Enjoy!

This would imply that some of us even know what an "app" is, other than something kids talk about, and have phones that do something other than ring at inopportune times to aggravate us.

They used to call this the "generation gap".

    Thumbs up Shooting Apps

I really like the ones by Hunter Joe.
I have the Ballistics app which is quite good.

I had a target scoring app for my Win CE that plotted and recorded scores.
But I use a BB now.

Doug when I had my Droid I had shooter and it was great but now I'm an iPhone user and found that not all apps are found in both systems. I Found that For balastic calculation you can't beat iSnipe. Like shooter it has all bullets and BC but also has all loaded factory ammo. The layout is very nice. I like it more then shooter but thats just my thoughts. Now on to range finding. Doug has gotten me into long range shooting so I don't really want to pace off 500-1000 yards. I looked and looked and found DistanceMap to be perfect. You can use it many ways to find your distance. First is like how Doug uses range card. Just drop a pin where you are and a pin where your target using the google maps satellite images. The next way I found that worked amazing was I dropped a pin where I was going to shoot from and just walked my target down range and it shows your distance from the pin you dropped. The other nice thing is you can save locations for later use so you don't have to re place them.
It's not the size of your brass that matters, It's how you tumble it.

Does the droid gps and this app work even if you are in the middle of nowhere, as a stand alone gps? Just asking cause IDK, I thought those phones communicated current position with a tower.

    Thats a good question 375RUGER.

Even in the SW desert of Wyoming there is very little of "the middle of nowhere" The service on my range is iffy sometimes but Range card has worked for me well out there.

I'm still looking for shooting apps on my windows based smart phone, I'll post when/if I find something.

And seriously people, if you don't like cell phones, you really don't have to say so in every thread about cell phones.

As a matter of fact, here is a perfect thread for you to air your dislike for useful modern technology.

One I use for reloading data is AMMOTRACKER. I use it with my iphone and its a free app. I work up a load I like and record the data in AMMOTRACKER and never have to look back in a file/pile of papers or my laptop.

I looked it up on the net today and here is one of the comments from a user.

"Only wish would to be able to pre load maps for areas when out of cell range."
