    LAM-2 O-Ring...

Anyone know the size of the o-ring that is in the lube plunger?...

I thought I might get one locally as opposed to asking RCBS to send me a few...

Mine literally split in half around the circumference. It is still in place but is not very effecient anymore...

    Thanks...

BCB, I found it easier to take the piston + old O rings with me to Home Depot, Lowes, etc., than to call RCBS, which sent me the wrong size btw.

That's a good idea!!! Never gave that a thought...

Might just do that and go to a local auto parts or a dealer that makes hydrolic hoses for the equipment that runs on our coal surface mines here in PA...

    Thanks...BCB

    It's a # 16 and I think IIRC, it measures 1 1/16" x 7/8" x 1/8".

    Thanks All...

John J has offered to send me an "original equipment" o-ring...

I will take it and see if it compares it to a #16. If they are the same, and I suspect they will be as the advise on this site is most always very accurate, I will purchase 1/2 dozen of them for future use...

    Again, thanks...

RCBS green lube too hard in LAM?

I pulled out the ol' LAM last night to sive a bunch of .45 RN's I cast the other night. I topped off with a half stick of some RCBS green lube which is probably a decade or two old but looked normal. As I was going and the dark tannish lube was running out and the green RCBS was getting more prominent, MAN the pressure handle was getting harder and harder to turn, to the point I thought it might break or bend. I took it apart and everything looked OK. Is that green RCBS lube just stiff as heck? Is this normal? Ambient temp was around 70 - 75F.

    John,

The original equipment O-ring arrived today--thanks...

I will now take it to some place that sales rings and try to find the match...

Gonna start with the suggestion that fishnbob posted...

    Thanks again...BCB

I picked up an O Ring kit at Harbor Freight [don't remember the cost] and it has been a life saver. The O-Rings in this kit fit everything from lub-sizers and water faucets to my farm machinery. I hate to spend $10.00 in fuel to drive to town and then spend $1.50 for a 10 cent item.

    fishnbob,

I checked the # 16 and it didn't have those dimensions or maybe not quite those dimensions...

Regardless, we looked at others the store had and the closes we found was 1 1/16" x 13/16" x 1/8" which is only off by 1/16". Close enough!!!

I just put it in the LAM 2 yesterday just to see if it would work and it works...

I got the original from a person on this site and I kept it just as a backup and for future reference should the one I just got wear out in the future...

    Thanks to all...BCB

I also have a hard time matching them up locally with what RCBS sends me but if it is that close, they seem to work. I try not to put too much pressure on them with hard lubes, so I use a little more heat. So far, so good.
