Will not using GC's effect the accuracy?

Looking to get the lee .30 120 grain mold for use in a m1 carbine. Will not using the GC hurt performance?

It depends. If the boolit is still long enough for the rifling with the loss of the drive band it can shoot great, if not it can shoot poor or tumble. Only way to know is to try them.

I think so, just a guess. I'm using the lyman 115 gr. pointed gas check as a reference and IMO the bearing length would be too short. Also, you really might need the GC if you run std. velocities. Those loads are pretty hot in that small case.

The thing that limits you is this fact that it needs a certain pressure window in order to get the action to function. Some guys are using boolits with no gas checks but they were designed that way. I myself haven't been able to get the 311410 boolit to work. However, the RCBS 32-98 pistol boolit shoots just fine & functions the action too.

Just my .02. Others have tried with good success, all of the GC stuff I have tried to use seemed to lead, did not shoot worth a hoot or both. I have tried several that folks here have said worked and they didn't work for me.
So, it will be hit and miss IMHO.

ive had good luck shooting 180 gr 357 , and 45 cal 260 and 300 gr bullets without gas checks with good accuracy, but ive only use them at about 1000fps. bob
