    #311466 cast from 20:1

Yesterday I cast up some of these bullets, plain base version, from 20:1 to see how big they came from the mould. Since I had them I tried paper patching some for my 30-06. Loaded over 57gr. RE-22 +.3cc BPI buffer, they were holding about 3 inches at 200 yards today on our hanging steel. Zero problems, fast, accurate. Looks like this would be a heck of a deer load. Next I need to try to catch one in water filled milk jugs just to see what the expansion is like. I didn't think such a soft boolit would work at that speed, but it did. Pretty neat stuff!

I shot some Lee 200gr. paper patched as well, expected them to work and they did very well. I think I'll get a recoil pad for my rifle if I keep shooting those. They tenderize my shoulder. What a great way to start 2012!

Wow! That worked so well it's almost boring!

Reloder 22 and a little BPI does the trick again, and you have to love the short round nose of that little boolit that resists slump so well with soft alloys.

What was your load with the heavy Lee boolit?

Same thing, just less 2 grains powder. (55 total) - just to make room for the deeper seating depth. That 200gr. is a hammer!

    Wink

Nobade, think they are hard on your shoulder you should see what they do to a crow when pushed at mil- spec for the 30-40 Krag in a highwall at a 100 yds.

The 311466 is one of my favorite 30cal bullets for patching. I size them .301 and patch back up to .310 for my 308s and 06s. Same thing but sized .304 and patched back up for my 303 SMLE.
45 AUTO! Because having to shoot someone twice is just silly!

Hard to say. The mould is marked RN but the boolits have a small flat nose. Doesn't seem to matter much.
