Bullet puller to pull Boolits too?

I am tired of using my kinetic hammer puller whenever I need to pull a boolit, and now my son has about 100 rounds loaded with boolits that he wants to take apart.

Are there any collet bullet pullers out there that will also work good on boolits? I would assume that the puller would deform boolits since they are so much softer than FMJ, but at least they can be remelted.

    Thanks,

    Randy

I have used the collet style for boolits that had some straight side outside the case but the collet will slip off a RN or tapered boolit. More lead to melt.

I've got an RCBS collet type puller. And yes, it does ruin the boolits. Not sure how well it will do on a 1R or 2R nose but I had to crank down to pull some LFNs.

I use a small set of bolt cutters like Chicken Thief uses the pliers. I raise the cartridge up, grab it with the bolt cutters, and lower the handle. I had to pull half of a 50 cal ammo can full of 45 acp once. It went pretty fast. You also get to save the powder.

I use an RCBS puller. I pick up a new collet with every new caliber I reload. I haven't had a problem with any yet.

I use an RCBS Collet Bullet Puller and generally do no damage to the boolit when pulling BPCR rounds. The ones I do manage to mangle go back to the casting pot.

I use a large set of side cuts, again like Chicken Thief.

Now, back to my lunch....Hey, where did my chicken go?

I use a pair of wire stripper pliers. The "teeth" that strip the wire work perfect.

The only way I've found to salvage them to be reused, is with cotton wads in a kinetic puller. Then you've got a powder mess in the cotton. My kinetic puller has four little plastic webs in the inside bottom that would mess up the boolits. I just don't bother anymore, I re-melt them.

I use the Hornady collet puller. Deforms lead boolits, but big deal--just smelt them and re-cast.

For those of who only have a kinetic hammer puller like me, just put a foam ear plug in there and you can salvage the bullet ( even works with .223 with plastic tips ) without damage, as well as the powder.

Run them back through the sizer die with the decapping pin removed. It will size down the boolit and the case will spring back slightly, loosening the case neck tension. The boolits will then pop out easily with your hammer or pliers.

Good idea Babore. I have an RCBS collet style that I have mixed results with boolits. If the crimp is very tight at all it doesn't work.
