I got out the other day with a handful of loads to try and see if they would match the battle sight od an 03 Springfield .
I have a can of Clays I'm trying to use up and loaded a few with eight grains and a like amount with nine point five grains . The bullets were the Lyman 311440 , primers by Winchester and Remington cases .
As it came out on some fifty foot bullseyes at twenty-five yards , the lighter load was closer to match the sights . However , the heavier charge had a much better group . The lighter charge was the closest to the bottom of the bull where the aiming point was . So I think the next time out I'll try a couple charges below eight grains and see if the point of impact comes up a touch .
Groups size though ? I dunno , maybe I can seat them out a bit . I think I'll fool with one thing at a time first . It was fun taking the day of work , lighting a fire in the stove of the range house and plinking most of the morning away
