    russian nagant

was at a military surplus store today, and they have a pile of the 7.62 nagant revolvers there.I became intrested in how the thing worked, and now have a desire to buy one.Was wondering just how good they shoot, and do most people use 32-20 cases to reload the thing with?

For a 140 bucks,it appears it may give me some cheap intertainment, for a while.

You can get boxer primed ammo and reload it. They have terrible trigger pulls however. Mine shoot as good as some of my US made revolvers

140 bucks seems high as I have seen them at gun shows for right around a 100 dollar bill. But then that has been a couple of months. 32 mag works fine in them the cases swell a bit but no big issue when I had one I shot quite a few boxes of 32 mag with no issues. 32 Long also. I sold mine off but kinda thinking about an other maybe.

    I've enjoyed shooting them.
The double action on mine wasn't so bad, I think folks are spoiled these days what with action jobs and all. You don't always need fancy ammo, sights, custom gunsmithing, etc....what we all need is just more 'trigger time' on the range.
Ranting aside though, I like the Nagant.
jh45gun is right about the case swelling, no big deal. reloading is OK if you like a challenge.
The Nagant is a great little trap-line or woods tramping revolver. And accurate.
$140? Maybe $120 is more like it, but they are a solid value at $140...in my opinion they are worth more.
And like ALL surplus guns, the supply WILL dry up and the value will rise.

I always shoot a double action single action and the trigger pull is not too bad that way.

I think $140 sounds a little steep too. Not all of them shoot that good. If it shoots good then $140 is good but there are no guarentees.

I reamed my Nagant out to .32-20. The ammo has to be loaded .1" short so the bullets will clear the back of the barrel. It shoots 3" at 25 yards off the nags. The original ammo will work in it after it is converted. Send me a private message, I can convert yours for a modest fee.
