    Mihec H&G 503 4-cavity solid

I got one of the left overs from the most recent group buy and this is my second mold ever. It's my first Mihec mold and first to be made out of brass.

Today I cast with it for the first time. I noticed it heated up a lot quicker on the hot plate than the aluminum mold usually does. When it hit 330F I poured a few bullets and got wrinkled results, the mold is brand spanking new and all I've done to it is add some lube to the sprue plate hinge. I repeat maybe 4 times total before the mold starts dropping keepers. After that it's smooth sailing, I quickly cast up my 4-20s worth of lead.

The mold is just fantastic, I don't think I will buy anything but brass in the future, maybe cast iron. Never again aluminum that's for sure. In addition to seeming to heat up faster it also seems to retain heat much better. I always have problems keeping my mold hot enough, not today.

The mold drops the bullets at pretty much exactly .432".

Now I can't wait to try out my H&G #68 mold!

I've got this mould in aluminum AND brass. My only regret is that I didn't get the brass mould as a hollow point. OLD WEST BULLET MOULDS made a brass copy of LYMAN 429352 in a group buy awhile back...I think Blammer was the honcho...that was my first brassie. Another great mould and design!

I have the Mihec mould for the H&G #503 in a six cavity aluminum, four cavity brass, and two cavity brass Cramer style. All three of them cast beautifully for me. I pre-heat all of them. I cast at 725 degrees (alloy temp) but with the Cramer style cast at 750 degrees.

These are superb moulds and I am a fan of the "genuine" Keith. I use them in both .44 Special and .44 magnum handguns.

After forty years of flinging .430" slugs from various revolvers the ORIGINAL Keith style slug is still my favorite bullet.

Beautiful mold...despite having seven older 245-260 gr Keith style molds ALREADY....I wish I'd bought one of those.
