    Boxer primer dimensions

Did boxer primers ever have different sizes than they do today?

My son who challenges EVERYTHING I say about anything (he should have been a lawyer) contends that old time cartridges may have been of a different size than we use today. How do I know as I was not reloading over 100 years ago.

Does anyone have a documented answer I can hand him?

    Bill,

There have been a few article in Rifle or Handloader over the past few years about older reloading supplies. I remember seeing a picture of one box of I think Winchester primers that were flat out tiny, they made a small rifle primer look like a .50 BMG primer.

Don't know if this tells you much but it is an interesting box of primers.
