Ditto - I went in to work early for a week, and used the one in the office. Cut the whole roll of flashing into 1/2" strips - enough to last me over a year.

I bought a cheap one at Harbor Freight for around $20.00 or so. I dedicate it to just cutting aluminum and copper into strips.

    Hope this helps.

An old paper cutter works great for cutting strips. My crews carry one out in the field for roof work.

I have the harbor frieght cheapo...it works fine,
But, if I ever find a older "Made in USA" unit...at a garage sale or something?
I'd give away the harbor frieght unit in a heartbeat.

I recently went out on a limb and tried my rolling type paper cutter on some copper flashing material. (After making sure I had the spare cutter available)
It worked great for the .006 copper I am anticipating using when I get my GC maker from Pat.
    (Lord knows I hate waiting.)

I also have a very large pair of old scissors that work very well with thin sheet metals. Easier than tin snips, or even aircraft shears.

X2 On a cheap paper cutter. Just remember to allow for the sidewards creep as the
blade comes down. If not, you end up with a lot of tapered strips.

1940's paper cutter. Works great. The blade is very hard, and hardly ever needs sharpening.

Harbor Frieght, thin cutting blade allows cutting thin strips for the small calibers with a material stop fixed to the bench. My old big paper cutter handle is to wide for small strips. I cut the .020 material with it,

A razor knife works well, is lots cheaper and takes up less room.

Looks like I got it easy! These strips are .5" wide 25" long and .012 thick. They were cut on a plate punch/cutter with a vacuume table and a pneumatic rolling disc cutter. There's about 130-150 strips in the photo and I can get about fifty 35 cal. checks from each strip. I just wish I could make the checks as fast as the strips!

That is neat, you lucky guy, I am using one of the mallet type check makers I traded for, slow but works great. .270cal
