It has the right form factors, but that is the best I can do over the net. Tear off a chunk, bring some known alloy to just melted and see if your piece will alloy in.

Found more pewter the past couple of days. Here is one that may or may not be pewter. This piece looks and feels like pewter. I've googled it and found that it was made in Holland. It was only $1.99 so I took a chance and bought it. Once at home, I tested with a pen torch and it started to melt fairly easily. It weighs a little over 10oz. I am pretty sure it is pewter. Anyone know for sure?
Some stamps I havent seen before...
Another pewter picture frame...

htuong95, never seen the mark, but it has the look.

Took all of my pewter to the Makerspace today and made ingots. I used a small muffin mold that yielded ingots right at 7 ounces if filled the same every time.
A couple of problems were encountered. The hotplate and cast iron pot I used were not compatible. The pot was smaller in diameter than the full heating element of the hot plate and as such would not get the pot hotter than 300F without the lid.
I moved over to my Lyman pot. It holds 10# according to the specs. And I did get a bit more than 10# of pewter melted into the pot today.
Once all the stuff that was real pewter was melted I poured ingots. That went well until I could not get big enough amounts of metal into my ladle. IT just meant I had to pour the pot directly into the mold... Cavemanish but it worked.
Lessons learned.
If it is not marked pewter on the material (a hallmark or some other stamping) do not trust it. I got burned by a picture frame and a candy dish that had paper labels that said these were pewter. NOT! Both were brittle as hell and would not melt when a corner was dipped into the pot.
Lids work great to keep the heat in the pot.
Big hammers and a vise are your friend.
This is fun!
Thanks to all of you who've offered good info on rounding up and melting pewter.

Can you find a picture of that picture frame and candy dish that where marked pewter?
I guess you missed the part where he said the item wasn't marked. Some pieces will have a sticker that says pewter but that refers to a plating, wash or color. Marshall's (a department store) has bric-brac that is pewter plated over brass with some of the brass exposed for detail. Marked pewter on the sticker but not stamped on the piece itself.
Marked on the label or stamped onto the item, whichever. They had pewter on them somewhere. I know that pewter is sometimes used to describe the look but not the material. I want to see pictures of what he has to see if they would fool me on first glance, either pictures of the items he has in hand, or just pictures of the same items from around the web.

I found 2 items today but I didnt take pictures.
One is a candle holder and this looks like the exact same one... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Fall-Thanksg...item4d27193b09 "SCENTS & ACCENTS 1998 FINE PEWTER MADE IN U.S.A." 1-lb & 0.4-oz with glass candle holder.
The other is another pewter picture frame. Made by Hummelwerk, but I can't find an image online of it. Its a very plain looking frame with a "smallish" oval window in the upper left and a flowery design that occupies the majority of the rest of the frame especially the lower right. "1984 HUMMELWERK FINE PEWTER U.S.A." 1-lb & 3.4-oz all together.
So another pewter picture frame to watch out for. The back looks alot like the Seagull frames in that the glass and other materials slide into a groove instead of being held down by clips. The marking is on a raised part along the bottom.
I've got a bunch of photos from this weekend's haul of thrift shop pewter.
One question beforehand. Is there such a thing as silver plated pewter? I think I ran into a piece today. It melted fast but left a lot of dross on top of the melt. The dross is silvery. Of course the pot was not hot enough to melt the silver. I've scooped it up and put it aside for later.
Pics of my haul later. I have one very interesting piece I think you all may snicker at.

I melted some of my pewter today. I like to melt all of my nonstamped pewter separately. The stamped pewter ingots has a golden tint which is to be expected, however the ones below does not. The nonstamped ingots looks similar to the stamped ingots but without the golden tint. Does all pewter have the golden tint?
I don't see much gold in mine...

It'd be nice to have 5 pounds Avoirdupois in gold laying around. Heck, I wouldn't mind having it in silver.

My pewter ingots get a gold sheen on the tops.
Now for the haul...
Two dishes, three candle holders, two mugs (one with a metal bottom) one barrel, 6 little shot glasses and 2 picture frames.
A fun one: Roll out the barrel!
It's all beat to hell else I'd have saved it. I could not get a good pic of the hallmark to save my life. It was on the inside of the leg of the barrel.
And for Konsole... Here is a hallmark found on a pair of picture frames:
And some more hallmarks:
Yield was 7-1/2 pounds. Cost of $3.33 per pound.
