I collected 22lr brass from a local range to RELOAD the 22lr.
I found some with a strange headstamp...a "V" inside a triangle. Had a heck of a time locating the manufacture.
Turns out they are POBJEDA "they used to be imported under the name of "Valor" from Yugoslavia.
I found them on several different occasions at that range.
Why am I telling this story?
While resizing them to reload I noticed that they HAVE THICKER BRASS than any other brand. They got stuck on my sizing pin. So I figure that thicker brass would be better for making jackets from (if they fit in the de rimming die).

Traffer, thanks for mentioning this... I will keep an eye out for these.

A new-guy question. I've made/shot about 75 trying out different tips and weights. Mostly just trying to figure out how things work. So far, they have make very nice holes in paper at 25 yards.

When people talk about coming apart, how do you know? Is it one of those, "when you see it, you know it?" or is it just torn up paper or no holes in the paper?

In my experience bullets that you can see coming apart leave a puff of gray dust or a streak of gray in the air.
Many have traveled 60 or more yards before coming apart.

At 25 yards nice round holes are a positive sign.

Federal for me makes the best 22cal jacketed 50 grain hp. I annealing them before cleaning with a small kiln. De-rim then anneal again. Clean again, seat cores, form bullets then shoot.

    Now hold onto your horses.

I've shot them to 4000 fps out of my 220 Swift Remington 40x and have NEVER had one come apart.

I think those that some of you have that failed in flight probably are stress cracks from NOT annealing before removing the rim that passed your inspection.

As for accuracy, I could NOT get constant groups under one inch.
