    Downloadable reloading data compilation

................This is NOT my work, I just made it a sticky via cut and paste into a new post. Wiljen is the author, did all the work and deserves all the kudo's, etc & etc.

    ################################################## ###############

The program is a reloading reference that includes all the freely available data from powder manufacturers, all the cartridge dimensions I could find, all the bullet SD and BCs I could gather, primer references, shell holder and shell plate references, all the surplus powder data I could find on Castpics and Cast boolits. I have documented all loading data by source. It allows for adding comments to load data.

First off a big thanks to John for his help with a couple of access gotchas.

This new version has over 260 Cartridges, 140 Powders, and 20,000+ loads. I have added the ADI powders for our Australian friends, all of the data from the new Ramshot 4.1 manual, the new Accurate website data, the Accurate data powder data (under surplus powders), and all the data from the new Hodgdon data website. I do believe this to be the most comprehensive reference available at this point and will continue to add as my time permits. Having said that - future updates will be in a format that can be incorporated into existing data to preserve user additions and comments.

As always, your comments are appreciated and if you really like this thing, throw sundog a few bucks to keep this place open.

    Wiljen,

My thanks as well! If you'd like to expand it a bit, I have some data about commercial & milsurp powders that you might want to take a look at. I can give them to you as Excel files if that will help. e-mail me at kennethmollohan@yahoo.com in you want.

AL-8 This is the original Alcan AL-8 as was sold during the 1960's and '70s. A flake powder which can be also loaded using Hercules (Alliant) Blue Dot data (begin with starting loads). This is new powder.
IMR4475 Original application was U.S. 7.62mm NATO (.308) Ball M80. Was approved as a substitute for WC846. IMR4475 is an extruded powder which has a burning rate similar to IMR3031.
IMR4895 Original application is U.S. .30 Cal Ball M2, AP M2, Tracer M25, and Match M72. THE powder of choice for M1 Garands. An extruded powder which can be loaded using IMR4895 data. This final lot I have came from 1972 loaded Tracer M25 ammo.
WC680(n) Original application is for the 7.62x39mm "AK-47" round. This is a ball powder, which can be loaded using AA1680 data.
WC820 Orignal application is for the U.S. Cal. .30 Carbine Ball M1 round. This lot loads at 13.5gr with 110gr FMJ projectile. This is a ball powder which can be loaded using Accurate Arms #9 (AA#9) data.
WC820(n) Orignal application is for the U.S. Cal. .30 Carbine Ball M1 round. This lot loads at 14gr with 110gr FMJ projectile. This is a ball powder which can be loaded using Accurate Arms #9 (AA#9) data.
WC820(f) This is an unusual lot of WC820 that was rejected for use in .30 Carbine ammunition, due to the too fast burning rate. This is a ball powder which can be loaded using Hodgdon HS7 data or Win571 data.
WC820(f) lot #47321 is more like H110 than AA #9.
    WC844 Original application is U.S. 5.56mm NATO Ball M193 (55gr) & M855 (62gr), plus Tracer M196 & M856. Typical 55gr load is 26gr, and 62gr load is 25gr. A ball powder which can be loaded using Hodgdon H335 data.
WC846 Original application is U.S. 7.62mm NATO Ball M80 and Tracer M62, typically loaded around 44-45 grains. This is a ball powder which can be loaded using Hodgdon BL-C(2) data.
WC850 Same as H-380. Assoc. w/ chamber ringing. Do not use loads w/ more than 10% air sapce.
WC852 Sold as H-414. Burning rate similar to WW760.
WW760BR Older version of WW760. Also sold as H-414.
    WC852(s) lot #47287 is more like RL-19/H4831.
WC860 Original application is U.S. .50 Cal. BMG ammo, used for the Ball M33 and API M8 projectile. A ball powder which can be loaded using Hodgdon H870 or AA8700 data.
WC872(n) Original application is U.S. 20mm Vulcan ammo. A ball powder which can be loaded using Hodgdon H870 or AA8700 data.

I posted a new version today. It includes shot shell data. I have also upgraded to the Access 2007 Runtime to solve some of the vista issues. If you have added your own data - PM me and I'll work with you on upgrading.

I also would like opinions - Keep the manuals and targets or lose them and focus on just data? They do take up most of the room so losing them in the lite version has really streamlined things. Should I make them a separate package?

Now is your chance - tell me what ya think.

Wiljen; Congratulations on a great program. I have tried to download previous versions but have never been successful. This time I ran into a similar problem where my Access was too old a version and then your option to install runtime hung up (complete system). For those who may encounter the problem what solved it for me was to go to the Microsoft site and download/install the updated Windows Installer then after the next installation failed I went back to the Windows site to install Access 2007 Runtime. Eh voila -- success. Great program in the few minutes I've looked at it.

I hope the burn out will fade with a bit of a rest. And I see you were disappointed not to get any feedback/recommendations. If you don't mind I'll start compiling some and send them on in the hope that you'll start working on the 11mm or 577-450 version!

    Take care

    Enjoy.
I just downloaded the program and all the components and am duly impressed.

Now I just need to play with it some more.

Question: As we start developing our own MDBs, would it be a good future project to compile them into a massive MDB ?

Oh - and as a Geek Aside: Why did you use Access rather than an Open Source DB like Open Office Base? I'm especially curious since it's on an Open Source host...

    Hi Wiljen,

I'm trying to use the Maintenance/edit data tables/edit cast data options. Seemed more likely than importing spreadsheets. I have a lot to learn yet on how to use it, and the basic problem is probably my own ignorance.

I think the DATA is a subject in and of itself. The manuals and targets have to be a beautiful topping on the cake!

Two subjects, two discs. Another option, one disc - DVD 100% of all of it, one or two discs - DATA and manuals.

Shipping essentially the same in either case, downloads much more manageable.

Charge for disc(s) and shipping - downloads for free or as you see fit.

With only a 24Kps connection, I was nearly heart-broken when I heard that you were discontinuing shipping the disc(s).

I know you are burnout on this project and it would be nice if a few things could be easy to change
One in the alloy caclulator if we could put in the cost of the lead as it is changing so fast in the real world.
Also I wonder if a lot of folks were having problems with this because they didn't have their macro level set or set low enough for your program to work? It was a long time before this got through my thick head.
Otherwise so far you have a really great program.
Can we add manuals if we find them?
I can now look at this and see just what is here now everything works. thanks again for producing this for us.

You can! there is a button on the page for Add/Edit Alloys that allows you to change the price you pay on any of them.

It has a registry entry that will attempt to set that for you but it depends on the system.

If you have access yes, currently I don't have the forms linked in the runtime version.

First I'd like to say thanks again for such a huge effort you've put into this project.

I went to the download site and am wondering if the RRv93x74r.exe file contains everything? I found a different spot to download the manuals in a couple of different files, Do I need these also in addition to the 93x74r.exe file?
I just want to download and make a backup incase it dissapears at some point.

    Thanks

    Having trouble...

Ok, I'm having a lot of trouble getting this to download and work. I'm running Vista and I don't have MS Access on my computer, so I'm downloading it with the program. It will say it successfully downloaded and installed the program, but the installation window will not "finish" and it locks up. The only way I can close it is using the task manager. Any tips or hints? Please?

The RRv93x74r.exe file is the core program. It does have all the reloading Data.
The additional files are Manuals and Targets. The program will work without the additional files and will provide all functions sans manuals and printable targets.

I have posted a readme file on Sourceforge that documents the issue selmerfan and some others were having. It is not a problem with the program per say, but an issue with Vista security. I have sent Selmerfan and HollandNut a copy of the fix as well as posting it to the download site to avoid further problems. if you have Vista, download the VistaReadme file and follow the instructions on the page or RR will show up as Read-only and wont let you use most of the functions.

    Exclamation spyware present!

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but I've just down loaded and installed the files and my antivirus/spyware software detected and blocked the "I am big brother" spyware program inside the firearms manual package A-F.

This is a known FALSE Positive. It has been scanned with Norton, AVG, and Trend and all come back clean.

    Hi Wiljen,

Man I sure hope you got some help with this project, it's huge, and Awesome! I've been playing with it for a couple of days now and it's working great for me. I just have one question...

I have XP with MS Access and I keep getting a failure message when I try to back up the program. Is there something I need to do first like set up a file/destination? Or how do I back up the data now that I've gotten it all entered.

OK.....First you may want to read this entire thread. The software was developed by our own Wiljen and it is extremely helpful.

Second, post #67 has the link to the newest version, 9.3x74r.

Here is the link...... http://sourceforge.net/project/showf...roup_id=200180 .

You may find that you'll need to download an older version. and then install the newest version. I had to install version 7.62 and then installed 9.3 on Windows 2000. You can get it to work if you have a little patience and Wiljen will help if you have a specific question, I am sure. He obviously put a good bit of time and effort into a great program.
