    The pointy boolit REALLY works!

I got a 175gr pointy boolit from Blammer and NOE recently. It cast well, and I made up a few hundred to test fit and make sure my load was OK. all that worked out. Next step was to see if it worked as I had hoped. I bought it for bowling pins. Shooting pins, if you are off-center by much the pin will often fall and spin on the table. It gets worse if the falling pin knocks over one next to it. The target gets significantly smaller when that happens. Good hits will carry the pin right off the table without even a bounce.
As you can tell by the thread title, the pointy boolits work, and work well. I had previously been a mid-pack finisher at best in pin matches. Today the only guys who beat me were the 2 old-timers who always win and shoot off. I would have placed 2nd if I had won 1 more round, won it outright if I had beaten the winner in our round. It was that close, and with a bit more practice, I will give them a run for their spot.
It was very apparent that the sweet spot for hitting the pins was wider for me. They also carried off the table well, and a couple of the competitors were kinda jealous that I had boolits that were an advantage.
Anyhow, I was quite pleased with the results, and thot I'd post it here for the benefit of any who might want to know.
Now, if I could find the same in .45. Swede, where are you?

The 175 is the .40 cal, Blammer. I s'pose you sent out so many they all run together. I kin unnerstand that.....
    thaks for honchoing this one!
and, do you know of any .45 cal pointys I might get my hands on? They work so well I'd like one in .45 cal. Would be willing to consider any weight.

Hammer MTB if you can't find a 45 pointy mold I'd like to have a 40 caliber so I'm in for an order, not sure how many NOE needs to redo this one.

I used the lightweight 40's a few weeks ago at a pistol match.. I was shooting revolver in USPSA.. and I was very impressed with how fast they appeared to drop into the cylider.. I look forward to trying the mid weights in 40 and the 38 also..

I've got the 45 cal one and NO time to cast any! arrgh!

to do a "rerun" NOE would most likely need at least 5 of ONE caliber and one wt to do it.

    Swede had a 2-cav .45-210 for me!
I got it today and plugged in the pot as soon as I got home!
They didn't come out 210, they ran 228-229 of WW, but that's OK. I don't need any interpolation to figure a load, just use 230 lead loads. I already make those!
The .45's look like the big bros of the .40's, no surprise there.
I had a seater punch made for the .40, maybe I can adapt it to the .45.
Them bowling pins are in for a lickin' now!

You didn't get that little nub of a part for seating them pointy boolits? Look in the tool/lube bag kit.

Yeah, I got it. Now I have 2. But I have a progressive press, and I am not going to fool with putting it on and retreiving it with every pull of the handle. I have a buddy at work that will turn about anything I need on a lathe. I just take him a boolit and tell him the dims of the seater.
I'll have to take a pic.

    edit:
Here's some eye candy for ya

    Beautiful!
    I just cast 250 more...
Whatcha got planned for yours? They seem a specialty nose style to me, not your average plinkin' and target boolit. Curious what others might have in mind for theirs.
