Thanks for the tip concerning the penta pins, tcbnick. They seem to not want to drop the bullets easily in several of my Mihec moulds.

Another thing with the penta pins is the sides are not quite flat. They are slightly hollow ground. I dress mine on a fine diamond hone. It seems to relieve the "pinching" at the corners.

    Guys,

Anyone cast some solids and weigh them to get a comparison with the hollow points yet?

    Thanks,

    Mike

Whipped some up last night, just because of this post.

IIRC, They were something like 212 gn with my mostly-range-scrap alloy. Edited. Thanks bld451, that was a typo.

Dane, I figured, but didn't want to miss an opportunity. All in fun.

By the by, I just started with range scrap. Seems fine. What are you getting for BHN?

Anyone want to trade some bullets from this mold for some cleaned WW alloy? Looking for maybe 200 or so. 25-1 alloy

For the record, a dipper or pressure pouring works best for this mold. I had been using a bottom pour, and it left an irregular void on the HP pin. Using a dipper to simulate injection molding works amazing! Flawless HPs!

I don't measure OAL for 45 ACP SWCs. I seat them so the forward drive band is about 1/32 inch (or .5 mm) above the case mouth.
