That's because we shrink the truth, LOL

If you shot a 0.45 inch group who would want to exaggerate some and call it a 0.98 inch group, but now if you shrink it a bit it becomes a nice 0.21 inch group.

A WORD OF CAUTION! I have several g.i. surpluss cloth bags filled with vpi particles. They are roughly the size of beer cans. Handy because when you think they are no longer working just put them on scookie sheet in the oven for 30 to 60 minutes at 200 degres. Remember, these attract and hold moisture. I found out the hard way that anytling sitting on them or touching them will rust. Seems that vpi paper doesn't do that

Ammo can and silica gel packets here.

Gasketed plastic bins would be lighter and I could see what was in them; when I started I'd never seen any gasketed bins before.

Silica packets come with some electronic gear, bags of beef jerky, inside some prescription medicine packs, etc.

I thought I'd wake up this thread.

I had this thread in the back of my mind since I posted on it over a year ago.
Thinking the molds I had at that time are in every kind and shape of container
and stacking them in the storage space I had was troublesome. They were in
mostly cardboard boxes like NOE provides with his molds and some original
plastic boxes from Lyman or RCBS...this combination just wouldn't stack
well for neat storage and easy access. AND all the iron molds need to
be oiled, due to the rust potential in MN's humidity in the summer,
and then, of course need to be de-oiled before use.

Then to compound this situation...BUT in a real good way.
I was lucky enough to meet up with a fellow caster who wanted to
sell some of his molds...I bought about 10...some from Group buys here.
I was elated as you could imagine, but only one had a box for storage.
I brought them up to my casting room and just had no place to put them.
I had molds laying all over.

Now I had to do something and I struggled with my thrifty side and didn't want
to spend $4 a box like cbrink did...But these expensive molds just deserved better
then reused/recycled cardboard.

I started the search for a clear gasketed container that would stack well and that
would hold a 5 cavity NOE as well as MP and NOE molds with Hollow point hardware
attached. Well, I found one, the locknlock 2 cup pet series.

I couldn't find any vendor would sell these. So I contacted the Texas factory
directly via email asking for quantity pricing. I needed 20 and offered to buy
30 to get a better price than $4.44 each.

Go with Ben and boil. Store in plastic containers or one of the multi drawer plastic cabinets and probably no problems!

I'm following my grandfather's method for his tools, they're stored in a wooden chest.

The only caution I would say for using airtight boxes of any type is don't seal them with the molds in when the relative humidity is very high. That moisture trapped inside will have nothing to do but react.

looks like a slightly less expensive version of what I use for rust protection in the gun safe >> CLICK HERE <<

you could use them in a much larger storage container w/ a piece of double face tape & fasten it to the underside of the lid

for moisture control if you can find the unscented cat litter that looks like little white round balls (it is really desiccant, I do not know if it is still available)

take a old pants leg cut off for making shorts and sew up a few bags (about 6 inches long x the width of the pants leg) & fill them
you could even use a few scraps left over from repairing window/door screens to make bags to use
then every other month throw them in the oven @ 160 ~ 200 F for 30 to 60 minutes to dry them out, cool them down & back in the container or safe
