    Checkmaker and zinc

Has anyone tried making gas checks out of zinc roof flashing? I saw some at the hardware store the other day and thought it may work. I'd like to hear if anyone has used this with Pat Marlin's Checkmaker but info on use with the freechex would be welcome too. Even if you havn't tried this your opinion on whether it would work or not would be welcome (like material strength or maleability).

I checked the label, it was 98% zinc. I didn't have a dial caliper with me so I don't know how thick it was. The thinnest material I have used is .011 thickness copper. Next time I'm down that way AND remember to throw my dial caliper in the car I'll see how thick it is. I figure if it's at least .010 I'll try it unless someone here has already used it and it didn't form well or some other problem.
