    2nd annual BBPDS

We are in the planning phase for the 2nd annual Big Bore P-Dog Shoot, BBPDS. Last year a couple of the Utah members came up for a weekend in August, we shot some targets, p-dogs, and gophers. We are planning on doing it again this year.

The shoot is going to take place here in South West Wyoming, just out side of Rock Springs. The p-dogs population isnt bad, alot of the varmint shooting we do is mainly within 200 yards with handguns and iron sighted rifles, ussally shoot a couple rounds than drive down a little further shoot a couple rounds....its not setting up a bench and shooting a bunch of rounds but it is alot of fun the way we do it.

I am thinkin this year we will have a camp out on my "Private" range on BLM land, the range is marked out right now to 900 yards, this springs I am going to extend it out to about 2000 yards.

Right now I am thinking the first weekend of August.

Anyone interested is welcome to come out.

That sounds like it might be fun. Have to see what comes up before then and if I stay healthy enough.

If I'm not on the rig, you can count on my attendance!

A long time ago I was working in Western Kansas and got to do some PD shooting using a 22.250 then got the brite idea maybe powdered by Budweiser or something? To try my .45 flinter, it was getting a little boring killing everything in site, needless to say that was a experience. After a little bit of shooting I would try to line up several "dogs" in a row just in case I missed the first one which I usually did and try to get one of the others down range on the skip which never happened was fun though. I did manage to kill a few with the round ball in a 35mph wind helps to shoot at a mound with two or three dogs sitting on it though.

if that matches whatever week off schedule i have by then.
    i'll be there.
i'll bring out the 44 lever [the one with the red bull can shims],or maybe the 375 , or cheat and go small with the 358 win for the long shots.
i should be able to scare them back into their holes with one of them.

Well, it's been awhile since I whacked a PD with Big Smile. I suppose it'll do.

Hmmmm, maybe a 12ga with some cast roundballs will fit the bill. It sure would be well suited for drive by prairie doggin'.

I was out today looking around and working on the range road....I am seeing lots of gophers and p-dogs....not huge numbers but enough to be entertained.

    The "hunt" is still on.
