    new LEE .690" RB mold

    Gentlemen,

I bought a LEE .690 round ball mold a couple of weeks ago for use in my 12ga and finally got around to casting a few today. All I can say is WOW! This is a great mold, probably the best I have ever gotten from LEE. The blocks close ABSOLUTELY PERFECTLY, fillout is fantastic and there is NO SPRUE what so ever. I think this is because of their, as LEE puts it, TANGENTAL cut off. Whatever it is, as close to perfectly round RBs as I have ever seen cast. At least as round as swaged balls. I can't wait to load up a few tonight and shoot them tomorrow.

BTW I use them in a shotcup with 1 1/8oz lead shot data. They shoot good out of my Mossberg M835, with a plain smoothbore barrel. I always carry a few while out walking in the woods, for yotes and such.

I have a lyman .690 RB mould that I patch and use in my BP shot gun. They are extremely accurate out to 40 yards and have a lot of power. I may use this for black powder deer hunting this year or at least my back-up set-up. Mark
