    230 grain 45 cal look a like!

Got a perfect 230 grain 45 cal bullet here you guys got to see. It is one of my last 45 cal sets outbound to customer till CH gets on the stick and makes us some more dies for me to improve. The bullet turned out great. I'll get some pics up soon.

Trimed 40 S&W brass to .74 which gave me a 67 grain jacket (removed 2.5 grains) then added 163 grains of lead. I didn't have the perfect core mold yet but a 158 grain .357 boolit mold should be perfect. When filled with wheel weight it should yeild dang near 163 grains for a perfect 230 grain 45 cal bullet.

Oh ya, I notched it to look like a XTP!

So you are using 40 S&W brass to make 45 caliber projectiles?

I am going to have to get a set of these dies in the future.

Way to many 45's around here not to have a set up to make sweet hollow points like that.

Lord, make me fast and accurate. Let my aim be true and my hand faster than those who would seek to destroy me. Grant me victory over my foes and those that wish to harm to me and mine. Let not my last thought be “If only I had my gun”; and Lord if today is truly the day that You call me home, let me die in a pile of brass.

I am out of town, enjoy your holidays.

BT at the rate you are producing "GOT TO HAVE" dies, I'm gonna have to add you as a dependent on my tax forms.
How soon is this one gonna be available? SWMBO (my personal banker) is about to cut me off, and Santa put an X beside my name.

Yeh I don't have time either but come on, everyone is doing it

The 45 set has been avialble for a while. I got one left but it needs some work. I'll let you know there Mold Maker. You will have time to gather funds. It may be a month or two. I need to track down a few dies first and try a couple ideas. We cleaned CH out of inventory. Wish they would step up the production. I could advertise these dies and clean them out but I would have very little to offer the attention advertising would gain. I'm working on that.

    Happy Holidays!

The problem with CH is the heat treating of the dies. The dies are made from 12L14 (Hope I got that right) according to Dave at CH. In order to harden these for use, they have to be carbo nitrated. He had told me that the guy he sends these off to do have them treated, charges by the pound. He sends off a batch every 6 weeks to be treated. Then, once it is sent off, he has a 4-6 week turn around before they get them back. I believe that is what taking the most time.

Figured I would help ya out on the time frame...

Yep I'm working on the tools for 9mm to .357 as we speak. Makes a great bullet. 55 gallons worth is a lot of bullets. The 9mm can make any size bullet jacket we want from 308-45.

    Check it out.

I've made .357 Bullets from .380 and .32 Auto brass. It works great. I've got a bunch of .32 S&W brass that I'm going to experiment with next.

With the .380 brass, I used a 105 grain .38 cast bullet for the core, making a 160 grain bullet. With the .32 Auto brass, I used a 100 grain .32 cast bullet for the core, which makes a 140 grain bullet.

    Hope this helps.

    Fred
