Success!! I annealed the old brass a little longer (16 seconds or so) and no separated or split necks! Before, I was experiencing a 50% failure rate. This time on my 10 case sample 0% failure. ...

Hey Gard, I had heard that ammonia will make brass brittle. Hopefully with a little more heat, I can salvage this project.
Thanks.

Thanks Rancher. I will try the spin the brass with a cordless drill in a socket trick and run it a little longer/hotter.

Good Morning,
I have some 225 Winchester brass that was formed to 7mm Merrill about 30 years ago. I am trying to re-form it to 6.5 JDJ. I have annealed the cases using a LP torch spinning with...

Bummer. And I was ready to make a drive to OKC to get me some!

If nothing else, the color is cool...
Placement of the caliber/weight seem to be different on the ones I have. All are top notch. Love me some MP brass molds. Works of art!
I agree about the current mold makers. MP, Accurate and NOE are tops in my book. I still lurk ebay for vintage RCBS and Lyman/Ideal if I find a good deal.
I concur about not fearing the gas check. I used to avoid all molds with a check because I didn't know much about them. They are an added expense, but are worth it in my opinion.

That was the reason I began casting and handloading...

I would like to make my own, the the cost of the ones on the market have scared me off. A $60ish dollar model would be great. .22, .25, .30 and .35 would be nice.

I have had good luck with the Gator Gas Checks. Cheaper than Hornady, too.
Forum: Boolit Lube !
I use a blackpowder type beeswax lube on my externally lubed 310 cadet loads. A little messy, but does the trick. These are not screamin fast loads.

I saw a big block for $5/lb a while back and thought it was too high...guess I should have bought it. :(

I, too, have an unshaven Webley. I use 45 Colt brass and thin the rim on my lathe (wood lathe...not the best, but it works). I also got an MP hollow base mold that is a work of art and produces...

I came across a vintage Lyman (made by Saeco, I think) that did not have the power cord. I direct wired it and it is a gem! I am liking the speed and high production of a bottom pour.
I have seen the Winchester 333 packs and larger 1,000 round packs at WallyWorld recently. I bought only one of the 1K boxes...didn't want to hoard it all. Let the next guy buy some, too.
I sure like to carry my S & W airweight...Forget I have it on me most of the time.

Was at a gun auction last month and a bunch sold for about $35/1000. Probably should have bid on some...
