Forum: Coatings and Alternatives
I am going to try some Frekote 700NC mould release on Alu sheet trays. I have never found anything that would stick to this stuff at any temp.
Forum: Coatings and Alternatives
I have a permanent mould release that will handle the temp, I am going to use 1/16 alu sheet.

There are lots of different coatings, moly, HBN, WS2 that can be applied straight up and then these can be mixed into epoxy paint or powder coat and then there are different ways to apply them. Do we...

The PID I am using suddenly died on me. I use it for casting and ceracoat. I emptied my ceracoat hot box, reloaded and it suddenly did not work, all I got was four o's which is supposed to be a...

Almost as bad as dropping a case of 6pt type!

I used lead shot, easier to come by than steel shot.

I have some moly coated shot that was used for moly coating projectiles. If I add this to my bullet alloy will the moly cause problems or just rise to the top to be skimmed off?

I don't count a lot of what i load, it just goes into a can. If I want to know what I have or want to take I use a digital scale, $14, weight ten and use a calculator if my brain is not working that...

It is foundry type. Lino is in lines that's why it is called lino and monotype was used for complex matter in small sizes. If it's individual letters the should be a makers logo or name moulded into...
Forum: Swaging
A friend had some that were swaged and then grooves turned cnc. Shoot very well at 1000yds. Small cnc lathes are cheap these days.

The shop I worked at moulded new pigs for the machines, that was the job for the apprentice in trouble. There was one in particular that would come in hung over, Danny was his name. I don't think he...

They are no doubt lino metal. The ears at both ends are probably there for when they get dropped and one end gets too buggered or broken to hang from. Not for sale probably means new metal. The...

Foundry type for sure. Monotype is very rare. Your picture looks like a standard California Job Case, as I remember.
Forum: Cast Boolits
Most of what you guys are calling monotype it actually foundry type. There is actually very little monotype around and it is normally in small sizes. Headline type is virtually always foundry type.

Superfly, same idea as mine, bend the handle so it go back past 90 and it can't fall.

Looks like just about anything will work.

Nothing is set in stone. The makers could do what ever they wanted with regard to alloy. Email me and I will send the document mentioned. It has lots more info than you might imagine, free.

I just got one. I found it a killer on the arm because you can go so fast, just can't stop!!

This is foundry type. Large sizes especially will always be foundry type. It was meant to be used over and over again, mainly for large headlines. It often has a makers name or logo moulded into it...

This was the standard shape to automatically feed a lino machine. It hung by a hook and was fed as metal was used.
I tried Kroil on a Lee 6 cavity mold. Did not work for me, nothing but wrinkles after many throws. I ended up letting it cool, flushing with solvent and smoking again to get it back in shape and...

I find it hard to believe that too hot a load can cause tumbling?? I would expect it the other way around and have seen that. I suspect your problem may not be solved. Was the temp way different or...
