I “sandwiche” my .012 flashing with strip of beer can (.004) and that seems to make them thick enough for .30 shank.

Powder coating will increase o.d of shank…. Tapping base of bullet against a hard surface may “expand” o.d of shank so checks hold for sizing.

Ok, if gc has “rim” on bottom just run your gc thru your sizing die… then put your gc bullet on that “shim” you just produced and they size with no “rim”. Sorry but I thought this initial thread was...

Try installing a gas check on top of your sizing stem(it will probably be a tight fit) and then run it up thru the sizing die. This will make a “shim” on top of your stem that you place your gc...

Not sure which way you are “dished “ but just run a gc thru THEN put that gc on seating stem and run them thru. That wil take up difference between forming pin and and shank of gc. Basically make a...

Use a carriage bolt here… long threaded portion to hold onto and nice rounded head.

If feeding nose first in lee sizer and material too thick the check may peel back or simply sheer at point where the die compresses them to diameter. The other situation is you get a perfectly round...

Personally I would use the thicker, not a problem with lubrisizer, maybe an issue with lee push thru.
Forum: Gas Checks
Need different thickness to make up difference between bullet shank diameter and what final sized diameter will be. Too thin don’t secure on well, too thick problem thru sizer and “upsetting” lead...

After my shoulder surgery I found the lee hand press lightly clamped in vice upside down and a light rap on hand lever popped them right out with way less shaking and stress, bonus as well is checks...

Pat Marlins for two step, Dave Mattesson of Mattessons machine shop for single step. I personally have access to machine tools and made my own single step similar to what Dave offers.
Forum: Gas Checks
Easiest would be the single stage type, that’s my preference, but lots of people go with the the two step type like pat marlins.

Try wiping forming mandrel with scocht bright pad to get it clean AND dry, wipe your material dry as well… when check is formed depending on material thickness the checks will “hydraulic” lock to...

I think for .35 you need .012-.014 material. As well copper is “sticky” and won’t shear as well as aluminum. I have found with one step makers that resting the punch on top of the material and the...
