I'm back with a range report, because who likes a dead end thread?
I worked up some loads with A2400, BR-5, Imr 3031. I played with the IMR4227 but only 11.0 grs. @ 1040fps subsonic.
All loads were...

If I wasn't already vested in the 350L, (AR) I'd be all over it. I've considered getting a single shot in 350, but then I wonder why bother when I have a couple good muzzle loaders I enjoy hunting...

Learn something new every day. I still have and use the Ohaus 505 that came in my RCBS Rock Chucker starter kit 30 plus years ago. Never had a problem with it. I still store it in the box it came in,...

I glued a 3" pic rail forward of the rear sight on my TC Hawken and mounted a red dot on it. It works well.
If it has a circuit board in it, it's going to fail. Guarenteed. I'm still using the same RCBS branded calipers I bought over 30 years ago. Still accurate to 1000th inch.

Was that 1825 fps checked over a chrono? If so, the 30-31 gr. load may be just what I'm looking for here. The plus is that Varget is one of Hodgdons extreme powders, which is something I like in a...

No doubt it's gonna be a meat plow. The first batch I poured last year, I loaded in 30-30 at about 1550fps. You can hear them smack the target backer at 100yds. I just love to hear that feed back.

I have an AR in 9x43. It puts the smack down on corn crunchers.

Hi Larry, Thanks, I always value and appreciate your input. For now, I'm not going to use Varget for my lighter cast loads. Two reasons; 1-it's quite expensive, and 2- it seems to do very well in my...

I'm going to start with the data listed by @ATR, That's some good time proven stuff. Also, throw in the BL-c2. I have a pound of it and have never used it before.
And yes, I have loaded TiteGroup...

I've been an H4895 guy for years. Sadly, I haven't seen it listed in over two-three years and I finally ran out. While I'm new to Varget, I had great results with starting level loads in my M1's. ...

It does, thank you. I like seeing the minimum charges. My Lyman manual doesn't have the 4227 listed.

Thanks guys, Just my luck you recommend the one powder I only have a half a pound of. But then, I don't need 100 rounds to kill a couple deer either. I was thinking one of the slower powders (...

Time to get serious about filling the freezer with some ground corn cruncher. I'm starting fresh with a new boolit and powder in my 30-06.
The boolit is the Accurate 170 gr. 31-170ft, PC & GC. and...

It's not the water or being wet, it's the corrosives being dumped on the roads for ice and dust control that destroys these vehicles.

When was the last time anyone saw H4895 listed for sale?

Yup, salt is one thing, but many states use calcium chloride for dust control on the dirt roads. Most people don't realize how nasty corrosive this stuff is. I have a lot of dirt roads around here,...

Copper/nickel lines are nice to work with also. My go-to for rusty line replacement on my beater salt rides.https://www.fittingsfty.com/the-truth-using-about-nickel-copper-brake-lines.html

It's caused by the corrosives they dump on the road during the winter. Frequent car washes go a long way to slow it down.

This is where I go for my light load data;

Lots of subsonic data here.

Most likely not. But you can close the gas port valve and shoot it like a straight pull bolt action.
