I have lightly tapped the stopper to reseat in in the hole. Always worked for me.
All this monkeying around with the E scale/ check it against a beam scale. Then for crying out loud just use a beam scale abd be done with it.

To adjust for light or heavy loads, remove the fore end cap, remove barrel, then remove the first ring. It will have instructions on it for which side goes up for light and down for heavy loads.

Always use a factory crip die with a 1911. I had the same problem with my Kimber, Remington, Taurus and Colt.
Check the maximum case lenght.
Maximum overall lenght 1.275.

I didn't have a 7/8 X 14 tap, but I did have a 3/4 X 14 NPT . If you work with the 3/4 NPT tap it will work. My top plates will take standard dies. It's like .30 difference.
