Yes. Suggest trying Olin-made cases that are not +P.
I discovered decades ago that Olin brass has the thinnest case walls found in the Western hemisphere. It's also the hardest.

A lathe & modified #4 chucking reamer (.209", sans the corner chamfers) is the easiest way to fly.
Drill the flash holes to #50 (.070" dia).
Below is an exercise in frustration:

Have used .40S&W as well, & for quite a while before .357 SIG was released.
Avoid neck splits by annealing the cleaned cases before sizing.
The .40's fat rim needs to be thinned-down as well,...

From empirical & lab data gathered over 40yrs of reloading experience, I've learned to bank on this fact: Olin brass is the thinnest-walled & hardest.
Any caliber.
Any configuration.

Agreed.
On the last yard visit, I watched as the grunt just threw my small amounts of copper & brass together right on the scale.
Gave me their clearly posted copper price, too.

Try Lexan(R) or Lucite(R), lubricated w/ hot soapy water & glycerin. Do not use any common petroleum-based cutting fluids on polymers.

Wrong machinery.
Suggest reading-up on the topic before wasting more time, & be advised that proper reamers are frequently rented nowadays.

Same here.
Have found that R-P & Fed are the thickest-walled domestic brass (also very soft), Olin & Hornady are thinnest/hardest.
Converting to .308/7.62 NATO is relatively simple, as most of...

Not bad. Only 5 weeks from conversion to 5x fired .........
Sure wish that I could find some consistent trigger time such as this.
Forum: Case Forming / Re-forming
Doing well, then.
Do you keep track of how many reload cycles 'till necks split?
Forum: Case Forming / Re-forming
Please be advised that performing the procedure quoted below will result in dangerously soft scrap brass: annealing a base destroys the metallurgy (hardness) of the primer pocket & surrounding...
Forum: Case Forming / Re-forming
Have also done this for a couple decades, but found it necessary to anneal & turn neck ODs.
Anything Olin (Win/WW/WRA - being the hardest/thinnest-walled) would usually split after the next firing,...

Use the normal shellholder & then take the ram all the way to top of it's stroke.
The resizing die thus becomes the defacto "chamber".

For 8mm Japanese Nambu, have sized cast 100gr .355 dia (ala: 9x19mm) down to .323 in one pass on a cheap Lee Lube & Size rig. That's almost a millimeter in diameter - Boom, done. For lube, used warm...

Your rifle is a fine piece of history, & a 2-stage Mauser trigger is of little consequence to a good rifleman.
