I'm running 44 mag cast boolits at 1200fps (measured) with zero leading issues. They are about 10-11BHN and sized .430. The mix is 93-3-3 alloy.
I have a Swedish M96 with an 18" barrel in 35 Whelen. It makes a fine brush gun.

@Racepress-The 1938 Turk will most likely have a detachable magazine. I'm converting my 358 Win to one because my wide meplate boolits don't like to feed and a single stack mag will most likely cure...

It does have the recess for the third bolt lug.

Here is the 1941 action . I am by no means the authority on mausers but I am learning. I figured that they were worth the money that I paid for them at least. The barreled actions were $125 each and...

@Bad Ass Wallace- That's a nice looking '06 that you have there. I had seriously considered just making mine an '06.
@Lags-After having my 358 built I now know how long, costly, and the amount of...

I was fortunate recently in purchasing some Gewehr mauser receivers. I bought two barreled receivers and the seller offered to sell me five more bare receivers for a total of $450. There are two...

Oh that's awesome man. I can't wait to take a buck with my new 358 Win and some cast boolits. I assume it was a pass through.

I always carry when aloft. If I am hiking and trying to get some miles or fishing in my boat (Mossberg 600 in the boat also) then generally my Glock43X with 15rnd shield mags is on my chest. It...

I keep my molds and handles in a wood crate with a golden rod dehumidifier after oiling them once I'm done casting. Some oil types will make them hard to separate if you let them set for months at a...

Very nice man. I'm jealous. Any info on what happened to the boolit ?

Oh I agree. I have become enamored with the cartridge.

Range time today. Stretched her legs out to 200 yards using my 200gr cast bullet using IMR4198. At 2100 fps she needed nine clicks up to get back on center for today's ladder testing. The formerly...

My buddy (member Lazy Squirrel) has a model 54 being rebarelled to 35 whelen atm. Those are nice rifles. If you can't get it figured out might I suggest Murphy Precision ? My M96 had mount issues...
Forum: Gas Checks
I have found that the .014" aluminum flashing checks work fine for me. I'm keeping MOA in my hunting rifle with them. I do think that sage's gator gas checks are sexier though. One roll of flashing...

Ben-How are you removing the Red N Tacky from the cases ? Are you applying it via a pad or thinning it for a spray ?
I have the four cavity 35 caliber and 44 mag molds from Mihec and absolutely love them. Both molds produce accurate projectiles that have performed very well so far. They are my favorite molds....

Went to the range today to sight it in at 200 yards and see what my groups were but there was a rifle match going all day on the 200 yard range so I didn't get to shoot at that distance. I did...
Forum: Gas Checks
Although I have used gator gas checks from Sage for many years and I actually prefer the look of copper I have been making my own aluminum checks out of .014 flashing with great success.

I annealed brass for the first time in all of my years of loading. I did somewhere around 350ct of my 358 win brass that was originally 308 commercial brass.
Update to original post in case anyone is looking for one. My fifty yard test resulted in all shots being in about a 3 1/8" group when fired from the bench.

I have a 4.25" Smith and Wesson Model 69 44 Magnum also. I prefer 245gr SWHP's for lighter skinned animals personally. I run them at about 1290 fps (stout) and the mold that I use also makes the flat...

Correction on the group size. It was a hot day lol. The group size for four shots was .94-.97" at 100 yards. Headed to the range Sunday to try it at 200 yards.

I have used Thunderwear in the past after having testicular surgery and like it for my Walther PPK.
