I tried the shot load idea already, and as you may have guessed it started out as my rejects from making the Rem cases. There are a couple ways to do those, the nose shape in particular, and it takes...

A regular size die most of the time is just fine, it revolves around what the chamber itself likes. In my 06 it will only take a small based cartridge. Even factory cases are at times a snug fit, but...

Are you sure your not exceeding the charactor limit?

Made those decades ago. Found out the hard way accuracy improved dramatically when you got the air out. There is such a tight fit when the 22cal boolit is pressed into the sabot that air gets traped...

Yes it was the groove dia I called out. I'm not keen on the idea of buying j-words, except in the high power stuff which pretty much goes with rifles. I have j-words for the 25 but heck if I can make...

NOE moulds are all I use now. I got rid of the old steel moulds some time ago and wont get any mass produced moulds ever again. The key quality issues I look for is how well the mould halves always...

I'm using the NOE mould, bullet itself comes out just fine. I sized PC'd mine and got lead build up the first 1/2" in the barrel. Ole wonder schmuck (me) took it for granted the barrel was a .251...

I make my own lube, and I use the wet stainless pin method for cleaning.

Leaving the hood(s) up is common practice around here. Learned that lesson after the first year and wont forget it either. Ever have the engine compartment completely packed with branches? Took me...

Your welcome.... I try (through trial and error, mostly error) to do things that don't require special tools. Unless a person does a bazillion of the 223 conversion, reamers cost and are specialized...

I find it easier to use 38Spl cases, no reaming. Just machine the head and extractor, which is simpler in the long run. Or......just buy the things from Starline since those are kinds cheap.
I heard (read) that those were designed for the fold crimp and not the roll crimp. I watched the video earlier, and that kind of accuracy to me anyway is the opposite of blow.
I just load mine in...

I figure I would make a thread on this, that way if someone comes across this rather odd case they can read about it.
I had someone ask me to make this case, took some reasearch but all it is, is...

If I were you I would try different head stamped cases. All mil brass seems to be rather thick and doesn't like to be formed a lot all at once. I make a lot of different cases with the 308mil brass,...

I've always sized before and after PC for a reason. I like to be the person in control in all phases of doing things. In another way of putting it, I'm eliminating any variables. When I'm done I know...

I would do some checking on the neck diameter. If your the one that converted 06 brass into 8mm you need to ream or turn the necks.
Find a loaded 8mm round and measure the neck, do the same with 1...

I don't care how big the case is, it can be done in a simple manner.

Annealing went south with age it sounds like. The older the case the harder the case gets over time.
Or.......the case was made to short causing the brass to stretch more than normal.

It's a vicious circle that develops when teaching people in todays world. I would say 100% talk about reloading, but about .03% know the basics. In todays world there's the "instant" generation, and...
