Thanks Turbo. I will try that. I am making a reduced load for my 12 y/o son (90 lbs soaking wet) to shoot deer with. Plus I have always wanted to load RB.
Well I just popped for a 20 ga loader, a .600 RB mold, Cheddite 2 3/4" hulls and WAA20 wads to start loading 20 ga RB. My choke is .602 on the gun that I am loading for. So I plan on cutting off...
I have a rifled choke for a mossberg that I would be willing to part with. Let me know if you are interested.
Thanks. I assume that you are going to be keeping the shots relatively short, right? I don't ever remember seeing anyone have good luck out of a smooth bore with the lees. They are designed to be...
Fed Hull, 26 gr Universal, Fed 12S3, 1-20 ga cork wad, fold crimp. Fired out of a Mossberg 500, 24in rifled barrel, ported, Boyd's thumbhole stock. I built it over the years. It has gone through 4...
You must be loading the crap out of yours. Mine is smooth and soft. I shot 25 rounds the other day in 30 min with no probs.
That is a hell of a 12ga @ .792. Try .735 or less unless you have an overbored barrel.
I load 26gr of Universal in a Federal hull with fiber base wad with Fed 12S3 wads and one 1/8" cork 20ga wad under the slug. It is super light on recoil, more than accurate to 100 yards, and does...
The lee slug mold comes with load data. You can find it electronically here. http://www.leeprecision.com/cgi-data/instruct/SM3529.pdf
The buck shot loads can be found in Lyman #5 Shotshell...
You will probably need to mail order them. They are a little more expensive, but so worth it. Let us know how it goes.
The guys at Dixie slugs have done a good amount of research with these. Federal wads are all that they found to work. Everything I have seen duplicates their findings. If you can not load a 12S3...
I load this slug in federal hulls with federal 12S3 wads, 1/8" 20 ga cards under the slug and Universal powder. I do not load them to max pressure. I think I am 1/2 grain under max. That was my...
Can you please post the formula or PM it to me?
Thanks
I use the Federal 12S3 with the 1oz Lee Slug. Everything else is either too thick or has ridges on the petals. BTW, the claybuster 12S3 look-a-like is very different. Just use the real federals. ...
