I take the cast bullet and snap on a gas check. I then run it through the Lubri-Sizer. Depending on the bullet, some of them could be pretty hard to run through since there’s no lube on the bullet....

For that reason, I gc first, then pc, then resize.

I’m using Hornady gas checks for my cast 32 Win SPL projectiles. No issues with seating in my RCBS Libra-Sizer.

Shelf life of properly stored primers is longer than the life of the OP.

I shot a 45 acp cartridge of WW I vintage, marked 1916. Went bang... (should've kept it rather than shoot it, though!)

Here’s another wet tumbling tip -

I use the squirrel cage in the rotary media separator to dry the brass. Put the wet brass in the squirrel cage along with a dry towel and agitate briskly back...

I also routinely wet tumble mixed brass and nickel cases with no discoloration. Not sure why OP is getting those results.

Cold water + lemi-shine + auto wash and wax = jewelry like brass...
