The nice thing about the Contender is the length doesn't matter so much. I have made 45 Colt capsules of various lengths from polyethylene (milk cartons) using geargnashers's method that contain...

I inherited a 16ga Parker bird gun from my favorite great uncle who had purchased it new. Because of that I have concentrated on 16ga for anything else for the last 20 years or so (except for a 410...

Concerning 22lr vs 22 magnum. The 22lr is .222 or .223 bore and the 22 magnum is .224. Not sure it would be a good idea to re-bore a 22lr to 22 magnum.

I have a Stevens 22/410 with the barrel cut down to 19" with chokes installed. Love the gun. Even have a 16 gauge barrel fitted to the receiver and a 38 special/357 insert barrel for it.
But...

Try shooting a 3/4oz load from my 3lb 7 oz 410 and you will realize the weight of the gun has a lot to do with recoil.

I have found it to be hit and miss on their website. i have a 5" 38 sp. insert for my Stevens 410 and another insert for my Yiltz 410.
The insert for the Yiltz 410 would not fit into the barrel...

How would a round ball work in the 357 mag?
Forum: Single Shot Guns
At present I have a 11 inch 357 mag. insert for a 16 gauge barrel. It is fun to shoot but it is slow to reload and the combo is too heavy for much walking around.
I posted this on another...

I've been thinking about a 18" 357 mag. barrel for my Contender. I acquired an extra screw-in choke for the Contender pistol barrels years ago and wonder if it would be usable on a rifle barrel. ...

In August, I had a copperhead come into my tractor shed while I was there working. He didn't live long. I need to make lighter 410 loads for my sawed off 410. 1/2 oz of #10 was more than needed....

In my opinion, the cartridge would have a rim, be somewhere from 25 to 30 caliber, not have overly thin case walls and have a decent neck length. My choice would definitely be the 256 Winchester. ...

I have read about a 223/25 that was easy to load for and very versatile. Necking up the 223 gives you a longer neck for cast boolits.

Its marked "Chamber length 2 2/4" Model 94 for sure.

If you make a capsule with a flat bottom and integral wad base you should be able to seat the capsule a little past the bottom of the neck without increasing pressure much at all. The pressure from...

I made capsules for a 30-30 pistol in the past with soda straws from McDonalds. You can heat them for molding with clothes iron set to the proper temperature determined by experimentation. I...

Just so happens in 1967 or 68 I passed up on a new T-bolt for an excellent price. I regret it to this day.

My 1968 copy of Gun Digest shows the 22 short to shoot 29 gr bullets at 1045 fps (or 1125 fps high velocity), the long shows the same 29 gr bullets at 1240 fps.
The long rifle 40gr bullet at 1245...

I have a Viper Express shot gun. The "shot shells" are expensive but can be reloaded forever. I use #10 shot.
Not easy to hit a bee with one - I have tried. Need practice.

Push wad down to powder. Don't leave air space.
For shortened shells I only use fiber wads and roll crimp with reduced powder charges from published data. Not looking for maximum performance anyway.

Took a little work, but I converted some once fired 303 brass to fit my 410's. Easy to reload for most of my needs.
There is a lot of info on the web about the mods needed.
I like to use a hand primer tool in order to feel the primer being seated. And purchased a single load Lee primer tool a long time ago. It may be slow but has never caused me problems.
