"the 3 original balls weighed 5 grains more than the new mix of 3 balls. "
You added antimony and/or tin, making lighter balls.

Chilled shot is soft compared to magnum. Your chilled will need antimony & tin added. (Linotype)
The magnum shot can be used as is, if oven heat treated & water cooled. I have test fired it.

Cycle the press as if loading shells. Then check powder drop weight. The shaking & vibration will settle the powder in the bushing.
Make sure the loaded 38 rounds COL is not to long for your cylinder.
My S&W 357 M28 may not chamber long bullets.

Note that factory 9mm 147 gr bullets have a long boatail. This helps avoid the bulge that keeps ammo from chambering. The bulge at the bullets base, after seating, should be avoided.

1,167°F to melt antimony. Lee pots dont go that high.

Forget holes. The cast bullet has to go deep into the die to size to the correct diameter.
The start of the die is tapered. Sizing happens lower in the die.

HS-6 From 5.5 grains to 7.5 grains
Unique From 4.4 grains to 7.0 grains
The mold is designed for pure lead. I found harder alloys made it near impossible to get slug out of mold.
2% minimum antimony is required for oven heat treat, water cool to harden.

I would have turned heat* down to 8, wait 5 minutes, then flux & clean stuff off top.

Harder alloys group better, when pushed hard. Less slump & skid.
